Job Profile / Description
A Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet agreed corporate objectives. A marketing manager needs to be able to interact and cooperate with staff in order to build trust, communicate effectively, drive execution, raise innovation, focus on delivery to the customer, collaborate with others and solve problems in a creative way, and demonstrate high integrity.
They need to maintain professional internal and external relations, in line with the company's core values and develop and maintain an effective working team ensuring relations with all internal and external support departments are effective.

What is the marketing manager's role?
The role would include some of the following tasks:
- Involvement in the product of the company, industry market, and B2B or B2C marketing;
- Demonstration of knowledge of the product's technical marketing and business skills;
- Ability to come up with a year plan of marketing and selling formulation of coordinate;
- Budget management - In order to provide the best insight when deciding on the budget;
- PR - frequent, quick and positive media reporting’s that can potentially become broadcast across a wide range of media;
- The management of the lifecycle of the entire line of products, from tactical strategic plan activity;
- Responsible for marketing of company products and services to the right market whether B2B or B2C;
- To direct marketing staff where budgets are devolved;
- To analyse potential strategic partner relationships for product lines.

The main skills and abilities that a marketing manager should have include:
- Able to quickly absorb and analyse large amounts of information;
- Show enthusiasm, energy and imagination;
- Be personable, outgoing and diplomacy;
- Have a clear communication and writing;
- To contribute ideas;
- Be highly organized and flexible;
- IT literacy;
- Comfortable working as part of a team;
- Smart appearance.
What would I earn?
These figures are only a guide. Marketing managers can expect to get about £25,000 to £30,000 each year.
After several years of experience, the director of marketing can earn between £30,000 to £35,000.
Senior marketing manager can earn up to £60,000+.
What would my hours be?
Marketing managers work more than 37 hours per week.

From a marketing managers role you can look to move into a more senior position, for example, a senior marketing manager role or a marketing director role. Moving industries or to a different larger organisation could mean career progression depending on your current level. You could also consider working for an agency where you would be working for clients. Alternatively, you could look to set up your own business and work for yourself. Doing a professional qualification would help you to move your career forward.
What training would I expect to do?
You may have already received all the training you need but if joining a new company, you may receive some on the job training and in-house training with regards to the products/services.
Training can also take the form or a professional marketing qualifications given out by the following associations:
- The Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM);
- The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM);
- The Institute of Sales and Marketing Management (ISMM);
- The Communication Advertising and Marketing Education Foundation (CAM Foundation).
You could work towards any professional qualification if you have not done so far.
