Personal Profiles

Probably the hardest section of a CV to get right is the profile. This isn't so surprising because you only have a very limited space to make a good powerful opening, and sell yourself quickly to the employer. And this is far easier said than done.

Some people don't say enough, and a lot of people actually go over the top and say too much. What you really should be aiming at in your profile is immediately whetting the employer's appetite and enticing him/her to read on.
Most people do not do this, and a lot of profiles are actually a deterrent, rather than something to entice the reader to keep reading.

You should remember that the most effective profiles are written with the employer in mind. So if you can get into the employer's mind then this gives your application a significant edge.

Other profile tips include writing in the third person as well as proactively selling your skills in a slick and professional manner.
